UNK JR
Here I designed a guitar to fill the void of where a single pickup guitar would be needed. Seymour Duncan pickups are used in all UNK Jr. Models. We use a Vintage P-90 and the single pickup design of this guitar is heard and felt in every note and chord. The Junior is the Big Boy of tone! - Paul Unkert

UNK Special
I made a double p-90 style guitar to fill the void of where finally a high quality special style guitar would be in someone’s collection. This guitar is a favorite for every one from Blues to Jazz to Rock. Seymour Duncan pickups are used in all UNK Special Models. We use Vintage P-90’s and you can really feel and hear the tone. - Paul Unkert

UNK Standard
The double Humbucker design is due to its standard acceptance in the industry, and if anyone does find the need to change their pick ups, there is no limit to tonal variations available using our guitar, and the myriad of pick ups one can choose from. Seymour Duncan pickups are used exclusively in all UNK Standard Models. We use a JB for the bridge and a 59 for the neck. The tone that these guitars produce is absolutely amazing. - Paul Unkert

Available Options for your UNK

Necks and Fingerboards:

  • Maple necks and Ebony fingerboards are standard on all UNK Guitars.
  • Korina bodies come standard with a Korina neck and Ebony fingerboard.
  • Maple and Cocobolo Rosewood fingerboards are available at no additional charge.
  • Curly Maple and Birdsey Maple necks and fingerboards are available at an additional charge of $300.00.

Tremelo Systems:

Floyd Rose
We offer Floyd Rose trems at an additional charge of $300.00.

Stetsbar
The Stetsbar is the neatest tremolo system since the Floyd Rose. A great tremelo only comes around once every 20-25 years and this is it. You've got to see it to believe it. Take a look at a Stetsbar on an UNK. Available for an additional charge of $300.00.

Left Handed:

No problem. We offer southpaw UNK’s at an additional charge of $300.00.

Woods:

Another aspect of the body I put a lot of thought into was the woods that I wanted to use. There are so many options, and I have worked with them all but I settled on three types to use for my guitars.

Poplar
Because of availability, paintability, and certainly for tone...as it was the choice of material for most of the Frankenstein Strats that I had made for Eddie Van Halen.

Mahogany
Another favorite of mine, also used for tone, and certainly for some of the outstanding finishes we can create with this material.

Korina
Again is used for tone, workability, and it does dry more rapidly than other species in our kiln, allowing us to buy this expensive and exotic lumber at a better price in its raw cut form.
